    Nikon F shutter speed dial

I recently scored a classic Nikon F, chrome, leather insert on prism. In good cosmetic condition, considering its age - a few scuffs, two little dents on the prism housing. The shutter sounds good. A little dirt in the viewfinder.
But...the speed markings on the shutter speed dial have worn/flaked off. Since the dial has no stop positions this makes shooting difficult. Any suggestions for a fix? Other than the meter prism! I'd like to keep the cost down, of course!
    Many thanks in advance!

As I recall those marking are not engraved into the dial, they're just painted on; correct? If they are engraved you might be able to use something like a lacquer stick to fill them in.

That... Or find a replacement knob,

You did not stipulate whether you had the Photomic or the DE-1 eye level prism. If you have the Photomic prism, the metal collar that inserts over the shutter speed dial does indeed have engraved settings, though they are shallow, so you could fill them in with paint. The markings on the shutter speed dial are also engraved, though also shallowly. I am a little confused when you say there are no stops on each shutter speed. There is indeed a detent on each shutter speed from T to 1/000, or at least there should be.
