Nikon Ultra-Wide Recommendations

Hello all,

I am building a Nikon kit. Really trying to find the best glass possible. I want an ultra-wide. Preferably 20mm or 18mm. I've been looking at the 20mm f/2.8 ai-s and the 18mm f/3.5 ai-s. I've been reading mixed reviews on both. I'm not really into the idea of a 24mm since I have the 28mm f/2.8 ai-s. Any suggestions on an ultra-wide? What are your thoughts on the 20mm and 18mm? Are there any better options that are around the same price range?

Thank you all greatly!

What is your budget? Do you want a prime lens, o0r can you live with a zoom ?
I personally have a Nikkor 20mm f/2.8-D lens that I'm pretty happy with, but wouldn't mind a 20mm AF-S f/1.8 lens if someone offered one for a good deal.

The Nikon 20 mm 1.8 is incredible, and the 14-24 mm 2.8 is so good that some Canon pros have it modified to fit their cameras!

I have both the 18mm f/3.5 and 15mm f/3.5 AIS Nikkors. Stop both down to f/8 and they are corner to corner sharp. Once you go to f/11 you start to lose sharpness due to diffraction
