Are you asking if you can use apertures such as f/4 or f/5.6 with this lens? I don't think you'll find an f/5 but I could be wrong...

Either way the answer is yes; you'll be able to use any aperture you want, from f/2.8 to f/22, with that lens.

I'm sorry, I meant the Nikon F4 or the Nikon F5 film cameras with the new 70-200mm 2.8 E FL ED N lens without causing any problems.
Thanks Joe

The 70-200mm 2.8 E FL ED N lens has the electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism (it is an E type lens) and this type of lens will NOT work on any Nikon film cameras and only later DLSRs.

Hi and welcome !! As far as I can discern, the short answer is no unless you're going to shoot wide open at f/2.8 being that the F4 & F5 can't talk to the cpu on your beautiful lens. Enjoy!

Hey Coolbus18,
Thanks for the info. I was told about the incompatibility of the new "ED" part of the lens and the F4 and F5.

Hi Joe, I have found this page very helpful. This is the Nikon download center with free user manuals. Nikon | Download Center

Here is a snip directly from the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR user manual.
