Posting images to gallery / forum posts - so slow

I have recently started to experience problems trying to load images (about 1.2mb Jpegs per image) to my galleries and also directly to posts - it is so painfully slow that sometimes the server times out and I end up giving up in frustration - this is during the day when there is not heavy internet use and I am not experiencing this with other forum's / websites!

Are there any suggestions / downloads to improve this?? I am running a Macbook Pro so not a slow machine.

Thanks for any help on this one.

Thanks Mike, I have never had this problem posting the same size images before so it appears something has changed and I understand I am not the only one who has experienced issue loading images - hopefully there is a more efficient solution available.

1.2mb Jpeg is way to big and the forum has to reduce the size as it posts. You are losing quality by uploading files this size. you will have much better quality and faster load times if you will follow forum guidelines and resize to 1000px on the long size and 72dpi.

Thanks Don, I will look at doing that when I have time to resize.

I use Lightroom and when I export I export to full size Tiff so if I want it on my website for sale I can use that file. I then take that tiff file and publish it to hard drive at the 1000px 72dpi that I can use for this forum and for Facebook. My results on my sites are much better. Those two steps only take a minute to do so not time wasted.

Jpgmini, as a Lightroom add-on, is great for reducing size while keeping detail. I canít recommend it highly enough!
