Can we update the personal gallery's area

The personal gallery's area is a tedious minefield it's very cumbersome and tedious to use I tried to use it in my first few months of nikonites use but I got very bored very quickly with its complicatedness and now I find myself with very old rubbish pictures in my gallery that I si,ply cannot be bothered to try and delete or replace and update.

maybe a downloadable program and/or apps would be a good idea where we open said program and point it to the images we want to have placed in our member gallery and the rest is done for use resizing etc to make them uploadable and accepted by the site?

You should really do all your resizing before you upload them here. The forum software is not the best way to downsize your photos. And as far as uploading them all you do is click on gallery and then Member gallery and then upload. It will automatically put them in your gallery. Then when posting just use the link on the bottom left of the edit post box and it will bring up a pop up of your gallery to pick from.

I'll try again at some point, but from what I remember it was complicated, I've also tried to delete in the past and they did not delete, also the size is/was different to other upload requirements meaning I then had to start resizing all the pics AGAIN I know storage space is a cost issue but plenty of other free sites allow almost full size uploads ( i.e. 15mb /20mb) I still think it needs an update but I will try again..

I just tried it and uploading and deleting from the Gallery worked just fine. I would suggest you resize your images, en masse, to 1,000 pixels on the long edge and upload.

If you need online photo storage for your full-res image files, I'd suggest you get a Flickr account.

Ok so I managed to delete one or it appears to have but, the process is so slow and tedious unless I'm missing something, having to open each image and the delete (admittedly I'm in the iPad which is a bit slower than my pc but it is 2017 and tablets need to be better catered for) their really needs to be a tick box next to each image for multiple delete.

Nikonites runs on vBulletin, a proprietary internet-forum software "package" designed for online forums management. vBulletin doesn't allow for end-user modification like you're asking for.

OK I'm trying to upload and a 4.2mb file is too big, considering we have unlimited space this is ridiculous, whats the point of having a members gallery if the photos have to be so degraded, 4mb is quite small and considering we can upload upto about 10mb in forums why is it different?
Don't get me wrong I'm but one voice, but i think its time to update the site this after all a website for photographers so surely being able to upload a decent picture to a member gallery should be quite a high priority for the site?

It also doesn't resize, it just says file too big.

I hear you on the concern.

Maybe it's my background as a former vbulletin owner/admin as well, but as has been mentioned, vbulletin is genetically an Internet forum software and getting a bit dated at that. It doesn't natively offer a gallery function, so the team here has found add-on software to add that feature. The problem is, as with a lot of add-on software, it depends on someone else to maintain it and modify it as Internet standards evolve. Where Flash used to be the preferred tool for a lot of things, html5 has replaced that and modern browsers make flash more difficult to work with.

Most members here seem to already have personal sites, flickr, smugmug, or other online galleries for hosting images, so the primary focus with Nikonites is to create a community and include basic features like the blog and galleries for members who haven't taken that plunge yet. The site isn't intended to compete with WordPress and Zenfolio, but to provide a stepping stone as members go that direction, IMO.

I think the feedback is great, as there's been talk that jdeg is looking into other forum software to replace vbulletin, so these suggestions are things that can be weighed in to the decision, as much as the intent and focus of the website.
