At least you managed to get your hands on one as there are shipping delays from Japan due to the recent earthquake in Nagasaki. I think most of the US outlets have run out of them already.
I've heard how scarce they've become. I hadn't figured on an earthquake interrupting production, but I remembered how hard it was for some folks to get one of the Tamron 150-600 lenses when they first came out. I got one from my local dealer, who had a couple in stock.
So, when I attended their D5/D500 Launch Party, I pre-ordered my D500.
I had mine a couple of days after they started shipping them to retailers.
I've always preferred the local camera store over the online sources. The folks here know I have that option, and they reward that kind of loyalty with excellent customer service. It's not even like there's that much of a price difference for most big ticket items, but even if there was, it'd still be worth a few bucks more. Having my camera ....in my camera bag, instead of on backorder, is a pretty great thing.
