Some good captures  Just need to straighten out the horizon.

The first one looks like it is ripping through the sky.

ty am always looking for constructive critism, i am so new at this lol one thing i learned is zoom doesn't work well for this type of photography, next storm im going to try my 35mm 1.8 and see how that works. i ended up shooting at 70 mm with my 70-300. i set my 7k on night landscape , but i think there has to be better settings that i have not found yet

Manual mode, 20sec exposure, f/8 would be a good start. As the lightning gets closer you might want to raise it up to f/11, and as it moves away you might want to lower it to f/5.6. No two bolts are a like, so it's a cat and mouse game. You will find a working zone that works for you.

I try to shot wide angle between 18 and 50mm. Be interesting to see how well your 35mm 1.8 works. As much as I like to I have not tried mine out yet on a storm. I don't know where to point you with setting on the 35mm 1.8.
