EXIF data sometimes doesn't show

Why is it that my EXIF data is sometimes there and sometimes appears as NA? Posted a photo yesterday and the only PP i did was a tiny crop to remove something in the foreground. It shows as NA. Is it because of this cropping?

Some PP programs remove the data. What did you use?

The Adobe "Save for Web" menu will remove all Exif data. That is how it differs. This was important in the days of dial up modems, to save a few bytes over the internet.

The "Save As - JPG" menu deletes some of it, but will retain the most important parts of the Exif. It is to be used if we want the Exif to still show.

Re: Exif data?

Probably because you are using LR CC and it has a problem with posting the Camera model. There are a number of threads discussing this (try looking under Computers and Software thread). Just a guess though because I don't use LR or PS, however others are having the same problem.

Re: Exif data?

You can verify that it's your software that is displaying things incorrectly.
I use gEXIFview.exe to display the data sometimes. It's free, here's the link:

GexifView Download from GVsoft

For a RAW/NEF file the D7100 records:
Make : NIKON CORPORATION
Model : NIKON D7100

So, your software probably has a bug and is picking up the last part of "Make" instead of "Model", which sounds like what you're expecting to see...
