Monthly assignment discussion thread

I'm just new around here so I'm not sure if this has been tried before (or would be useful) but I noticed discussion is discouraged in the monthly assignment thread. I would like to see a thread run in conjunction with the photo thread where we could discuss the photos, get tips, feedback, pick the brains of the experts or whatever. There are some amazing shots in there and I would like to give more praise and ask more questions at times than the standard ' thumbs up' allows.
Yes private messaging is an option for that, but we are all ego maniacs deep down and love open discussion about our work.

Again, I don't know if this has been tried before, I'm new here and only got my first nikon last week (after making the leap from Pentax) but I am very much looking forward to participating in next month's challenge and I would welcome any feedback/discussion.

You Mike's just have to stick together don't you? :p

While I like that idea too, I just think that if I saw something I wanted to discuss in the first week of the month, I wouldn't want to wait another 3 weeks to talk about it. In reality the moment would pass and I just wouldn't bother. I think at the end of the month the winners will get discussed and that would be about it.
What about those of us that may not be at the sharp end of the competition and won't get many likes. I think their experience would change greatly if along the way someone said to them, I can see you improving this month, you're really going in the right direction.

Its not very often Mike and i agree about anything :D


The only problem i have with a live discussion is the judges take likes into consideration,this would mean any picture discussed would get if you like extra publicity, which would be unfair on the other entries,i agree about the encouragement side thats why i argued against the request to limit the amount of likes you gave in the competition thread.
