Tutorial - How to post images inside your post
I have not seen a real dedicated tutorial on posting pictures/images. Figured I would put one together and if it is worthy of a sticky then maybe it will make it.
Here is the proper way to post your images into a thread post or in a reply to someone else' post.
Preparing Images for Posting
- Your images do not need to be hosted on a site such as Photobucket or Flickr
- You will need to resize the image(s) you intend to post so you will need a photo editor of some kind
- IrfanView is free and easy to use and works very well
- The forum automatically resizes images that are larger than 1000 pixels in width
- Height does not matter
- Web images are displayed no higher than 96 pixels per inch in resolution so no need for 300ppi
- Images should be saved in JPEG format at a low to medium quality around 120kb in file size
- Read and follow any forum rules as to image content
How to Post an Image
- Create your new topic or click "Reply", when reading a current topic, to post a reply to someone else' thread.
- Once you have created the posting window enter your subject or topic name and the main message text of your post.
- Once you ahve entered the main body text of your message hit the Enter key a couple times for some space.
- Post your image below your text block.
- To place your image click the icon that looks like a picture frame
(see pic below)
- Once you click the icon that looks like a picture frame you get a new command window prompting you to choose your image(s)
(see pic below)
- Once you have clicked "Select Files" you will choose the tab to where your image is located which is usually "From Computer" if they are on your hard drive. If you have images stored elsewhere online you would choose "From URL" and you would enter the location of the image.
- Next you will get a new pop up window to browse your computer (see pic below)
- Now you will need to browse and locate the image you wish to insert into the post. Once you have located the image click it to highlite it and select "Open". This will place the selected image into the "Upload" window list. Then click "Upload Files".

- Your image should now be visible inside the posting window.
- To set the size and alignment of the image put the mouse cursor over the newly placed
image and double click it.
(see pics below)
-
- This will open up a new window where you can choose its alignment for "None", "Left", "Center" or "Right".
- This aligns the image within the post window to what you choose.
- Select the image display size, "Thumbnail", "Medium", "Large" or "Full Size".
- Then click "Ok"
(see pic below)
- Now you can add even more images to the post, using these same steps above, or you can post your reply by clicking the "Submit New Thread" button or the "Post reply" button if you are replying to someone else' thread.
- Remember to hit "Enter" key after each image, if y ou are posting multiple images, so that there is a space between them and they don't touch each other and they align on top of one another, not beside.
- That is it!!Last edited by Mike D90; 11-21-2013 at 04:59 PM.

I've been trying to find an answer to what I'm doing wrong when posting photos, but can't.
When I'm posting photos I would like to have the EXIF data show up with a mouse over. I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. How is it done? Is ther a check-bos I'm missing or perhaps a setting in my profile??Bengt - D810; D7200Tamron 24-70/2.8 G2; Sigma 14-24/2.8

Works for me, it does take a few minutes. You can immediately see the picture posted but need to wait three or four minutes before the mouse-over starts working.

OK, none of the above. EXIF is still there after PP, just not showing up with a mouse over after uploading. And it doesn't help waiting. I've yet to see it on photos uploaded days ago
Just noticed that EXIF is with the picture on my computer, but gets striped on upload. Obviously I'm doing something wrong uploading. Is there something I need to do in order for EXIF data to be uploaded?Bengt - D810; D7200Tamron 24-70/2.8 G2; Sigma 14-24/2.8

You may not be doing anything wrong. Some Post Processing software will save EXIF data in "funny" ways. Let us know the software you are using and the steps you are going through to upload photos.
As an example when I use Photoshop Elements all is OK, but if O I use ON1 2019 the date captured is stripped on upload, but not on the computer.Walt

Okidok, I'm resizing to 1200. So that may be it. Would have been great with a how-to section in this forum (...or maybe there is one and I just haven't found it)
I've been posting on Pentaxforums for years and EXIF always shows up, so nothing wrong with my PP softwareBengt - D810; D7200Tamron 24-70/2.8 G2; Sigma 14-24/2.8
