There's something seriously wrong with the text input box

and it's getting very frustrating.
most of the time the text formatting goes haywire.
all lines get merged into one long line & it becomes impossible to edit unless you re-write the whole thing.
all writing, links, quotes, pics etc get merged into continous lines.
usullay happens with edit & advanced edit

adding a link to using the 'link' icon continues linking everything after it as well.
can't get the formatting back (it's all in blue with a underline, like a hyperlink)
adding more than one link deletes the previous one & replaces it after which you are stuck.. restart

and i see ads popping up every now & then in the text entry box...
it's just there.. can't delete or anything, but reload the page.

some other niggles as well..

is the text box wonky or me??!

I have not been aware of it here (with fairly active edits the last day or two).

Try rebooting your PC.


What bugs me that during actual Edits of previous messages, the Quick Reply box is there too. A confusion factor.

I changed my setting on forum to standard editing. That fixed my issues that sound similar to what you've mentioned.

At home i use a Mac & at work a PC.
But both are running Firefox..
could that be why

But i need all those bells & whistles

I'm not sure what changes between the edit settings. I just know I was fed up with fighting with it. Now it works fine for me. I haven't noticed any loss of functions that I use. But you could try it, and if it doesn't do what you want, just switch back again. Then you might have to use a more compatible browser, I just don't know. Sorry.

Are you calling us FAT?

I use Firefox exclusively and have not noticed any problems. I am on a lot and edit all the time including on occasions other peoples posts. I also have not heard from anyone else about any problems. Maybe you just need to gain some weight.

HAHA.. Now you wnat me to admit i said it!!!!
My wife would be very happy to learn that i've been getting requests to put on weight.. she's been on my case for that for some time now

Anyhow, this has been happening for quite a while now..
just posted a lot today & some links as well & i ran into all sorts of problems so i thought i'll vent it out here
was hopeful there would be other 'venters' too

No issues using Firefox here.

Has it been happening at work and at home? And tell me what setting you changed. I am not quite sure what your board settings are that you mentioned earlier.

Happening at home & at work...
Haven't changed nothing...
i'll see if i can emulate them & post some screen shots as they seem to be happening so often for me

Just clicked on edit on a post with links & this is how it appears...
Not sure if Dave or AC noticed when i replied in the thread, the formatting was all over the place.

If you click on edit, advanced edit and scroll all the way past the edit boxes you should see "Miscellaneous Options:" 4 check boxes there. Are the first three checked? If not then check them and see if that makes any difference.

Well this has happened to me sometimes ! Also I start typing and nothing happens for a few seconds or I type one letter and it quits my keyboard (iPad) !!

yep.. the first 3 check boxes are selected..
doesn't happen all the times, say 3 out of 5 times..

Yeah.. at home i usually upload pics..
so if i type something along with the image & click on advanced edit, they all flow as one line with the image somewhere in between.
similar to adding links..
