I have a question regarding the "Reply with Quote" feature. I use that often so that the exact item I am replying to is clear. In the past, it displays in either one of 2 ways:
1. All Pictures show in the reply (or)
2. The reply has only links to the pictures..

Personally I much prefer #1 as I do not want all of the photos repeated... for others to wade through... My problem is sometimes it functions as #1 and sometimes as #2..

Do we have any control in how the system does a Reply with Quote, in other words can I force it to just quote Text with the links??

Thanks... Apprectiate this being explained..

I think this has come up before. I believe if the photo is in the gallery, the photo will appear in the reply. If it's an attachment, it will show up as a link.

Thanks for the reply Marilynne.. I will check that out.. I just hate to "spam" the thread with multiple copies of a photo.. I usually just delete the phote so only the text appears..

I am sure it is debatable from an appearance aspect, but technically, repeating web pictures is no additional bandwidth issue. The browser has already cached the image file the first time, and then simply shows it again, from its local cache the repeated times.

Remember, You can delete any or all the photos in your reply. A lot of times when the OP has multiple pictures I will delete all except the one I want to comment on. You can also delete any text of the OP that you do not want to comment on.

Yep, it depends on how they picture was inserted into the post. Attachments to the post vs linked to remotely (including gallery).

In case some are not familiar with the feature the little "A" button at the very top left of the editing toolbar ("Switch Editor to Source Mode" when you hover on it) toggles the post's BBCode so you can see things like tags and such instead of "live" pictures in the post. Makes it easier to cut down a post to the parts relevant to your own when replying. At least I think so.

Also helpful for editing my own posts before submitting them.
