Re: This forum only for Suggestions & Questions on Nikonites

I am not sure why but new members continue posting 'help' threads in the Feedback & Suggestions section.
Maybe you need to set a minimum experience level or number of posts to hold this back to give people a chance to understand the reason for this section?

I see lots of posts on setting changing profiles. How about a detailed sticky on setting up and editing profile that can be printed out and read while taking the actions needed? Also, note that using the link via iPhone is practically useless since so small can't read or fill in the blanks. Suggest language to tell to use desktop/laptop to make changes. PS - I agree, should be limited and posts for camera help should be in a separate forum.

You need to add the Tamron 24-70mm F 2.8 lens and the new Tamron 150-600mm to the selections for posting our equipment. In the wide angle and super telephoto sections.

also can you either upsize the pics file size or suggest a way to resize pics so they can be uploaded?i'm constantly being told my pics are too big
Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.

oh ,ok i have been using the standard loader not the flash loader.the standard allows you to do 5 pics at a time.however it just says files to big with no size option (at least that i saw)

There is a size restriction. Just resize your photos before you upload. The site will do some resizing but it is better if you do it since you can control the quality better.

This is a common problem with every forum. New people don't read rules, sticky posts, FAQ's, or use the search feature. Blame Al Gore for inventing the internet in the first place.

Most people just create an account and dive right into asking their question. Odds are, it's already been answered 100 times and is in a sticky or FAQ, but they ask it anyway. I'm still amazed at the amount of people who aren't proficient enough with Google to do a simple search before posting.

Not this forum in particular, mind you. This is pretty consistent no matter where you go, photography-related and otherwise.

The other issue is that every web page has hot spots for clicks. The area just under the header, and on the left side of the page almost always generates the most amount of clicks. Makes sense, this is how we're taught to read after all. On this site, that particular hot spot happens to land directly on this section of the forum.

So is this the correct place/forum to ask a question about forum settings?

Guessing, but surely so, since it says Questions about Nikonites, and there is no other section related to the forum itself.

My own notion is that if this section is not for general help questions, then it ought to be last in the list, instead of first.

Wondering if a category for just travel photography might be in order. These photos don't always fit neatly into some of the other categories. Just a thought :)

THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS ON STARTING A THREAD "POST YOUR TRAVEL PHOTOS" "TRAVEL AFRICA" OR WHAT EVER YOU WOULD LIKE TO CALL IT. YOU CAN START A THREAD CALLED "ed4banger" AND POST YOUR PHOTOS THERE.

That's fine, but there is no suitable category to place it in that section. Your response is a little aggressive I think. Maybe less caffeine.....
