Photography In The Future - 31 photographs That Will Show You The Future Of Photograp

That article confuses me... While I'm seeing a lot of innovation and adaptation, and while both are often hallmarks of great art, neither is synonymous with quality purely by extension. Further, if it appears to be a digital image but, "they’re actually deeply unique 3D creations" then it's not a digital image -- it's a sculpture. And what the fark does "deeply unique" mean???

We're not looking into the future, we're looking into the minds of what appear to be some relatively unknown artists. The fact they were culled from some contest is no indicator of anything, really, beyond that.

That is a very tired collection of pictures -- looks, quite frankly, like mid-level college work.

I don't know much about art, but if that's it, then I don't like it.

I don't know the photographers and have no idea how old/experienced they are, but many of the photos suffer a severe case of "I'm so arty". Some shots make me wonder if they're just trying to impress me, some lack that much subtlety in their message it becomes cartoonish. It's what I at sixteen would produce. Not necessarily the quality but certainly the mediocrity.

Many are too much in my face, like a wet towel. But instead doing so to wake me or make me think, I wonder if they're just annoyed I wasn't paying attention to them.

Personally I don't feel these images have much to do with photography at all - other than being their chosen medium to record the work. I see the "artistry" in some of the images, the computer mastery of PP in some of the others and the concepts behind some more...... But to me at least, photography itself is more about evoking emotion in the viewer by using your skills to capture the more "normal" things - like using lighting cleverly to reverse the feel of a scene or a stunning landscape from an unusual perspective etc..... I'm probably not explaining myself very well, but in my head it makes sense anyway!

My local camera club has gained some members who would love this stuff. Without photoshop they can produce nothing. As my father used to say " you can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear " and a lot of this does not in my mind even equate to a pigs ear.

Future, who knows how far into it, might be robust 3D photography on a pro level or something beyond that. So if you think D4 is light, imagine a fusion of 2 in 1 shell. And then 2x whatever lens you want to use.

My personal feeling is that if this is photography of the future, I probably will not be participating. Ha! I still don't see the attraction to Still Life (a banana in a bowl to me is nothing more than something to eat). Ha!
