In case anyone is interested, one of B&H's items in today's "Deal Zone" is a Slik Lite travel tripod. Until midnight tonight it's 50% off, marked down to $49.99.

I don't need one myself, but if someone here does it looks like it gets good reviews so I thought I'd mention it. You can find it here.

Gee, just what everyone needs a tripod with a 4.4 pound capacity

Lol! I agree it does not quite fit the needs of someone who's shooting elk across a valley with a 20 pound 800mm f/2.8 and a bag of sand to help stabilize the center shaft.

But for some of us who might be out hiking and looking to save weight, or maybe bicycling to a shoot wearing a backpack, or numerous other scenarios where a 60"-plus, 10 pound unit would be more of an inconvenience than a boon, this thing might be just the ticket. I mean, the only reason I didn't order one myself is because I already have something similar. And I use it quite often!

So, yeah - not everyone needs it. But some do. "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio...." ;)

For $49 this certainly has its applications. 4.4 pound capacity is just fine for a bridge camera, or even a DSLR with a 50mm or wide angle lens. Folds down to 12", so it would be great to carry in a small backpack.

That looks good. And has it uses. My Manfrotto compact action only has a 3.3 pound load limit. But works great for my smaller cameras. Not to mention. I got this for a steal because Adorama goofed on their pricing. They had it listed for 16.00. They honored the price. But quickly changed the price afterwards!
