    B&H Payboo card

I usually avoid store credit cards or special buyers' cards, but the B&H Photo "Payboo" card is a nice deal for me, a New York State resident. I got one today.

When you use it, B&H immediately credits you the amount of sales tax on the purchase. That gives a NY resident a 7% discount on everything purchased. Additionally, some items (Nikkor lenses, in the case of the order I made today) also qualify for another 4% in rewards, credited 40-60 days following the purchase.

So that means that I saved an additional 11% off B&H's already-low Nikkor prices. I think that's a pretty good deal...

Oh yeah... a hundredth of a percent or so shy of 30%, I believe. But the intent is to use the card for the savings; NOT to finance purchases!

Rick, in case you aren't aware, B&H offers two different cards. The Payboo card won't charge/add sales tax providing the balance is paid in full by the due date.

They also offer a second card that is specifically for financing purchases providing they are qualifying purchases and paid either by 6 months or 12 months (the length of time to finance depends on the total amount financed). That card will add the sales tax.

Can you pay with a different card at checkout or do you have to wait for a bill and then pay it?

You have to use the Payboo card to check out. The sales tax is immediately credited on your invoice as soon as you select the card as payment. I guess I'll have to wait for the statement and then pay for the order. It's a little more trouble, but I saved over $111 in sales tax, plus I'll be getting a 4% reward on the price of the two lenses I bought. That's significant!

    Re: B&H Payboo card

For anyone who has a B&H Payboo card, Synchrony Bank is ending the cards soon and will close the accounts. This is info from an email I received this week:

The B&H Payboo Credit Card program is being discontinued. Effective 11:59 p.m. EST on January 17, 2022 ("Purchase End Date"), you will not be able to make new purchases with this account, and your account will be closed on approximately April 4, 2022 ("Account Close Date").
Please note the following important information:
You can continue to make purchases with the B&H Payboo Credit Card until the Purchase End Date and your account will continue to be eligible for the tax-equivalent loyalty reward offer in those states where available.
Although you cannot use your B&H Payboo Credit Card for new purchases after the Purchase End Date, if you place an order by this date that is shipped by the Account Close Date, the order will not be impacted and may be charged to your account. If however, you place an order by the Purchase End Date that is not shipped by the Account Close Date, you will not be able to use this account as a payment method for this order, and you will need to arrange for a different payment method for this purchase. B&H will contact you directly to discuss your options, if applicable.
If you have an account balance, you will continue to receive billing statements from Synchrony Bank. You are responsible for making payments until the balance on your account is paid in full in accordance with your Credit Card Account Agreement.
