B&H sale on Canon PIXMA Pro 100 Printer thru 12/31/17

B&H sale on Canon PIXMA Pro 100 Printer thru 12/31/17
EDIT October 31st: Only the rebate is available on this now. The sale price is no longer being offered. Current price is back up to $129.99 after rebate (which is still a great price).

B&H has the Canon Pixma PRO 100 on sale. A few of us bought it last year when the final price after rebate was @ $129.99. This year the final price RIGHT NOW after rebate is $59.99. The rebate ends December 31, 2017, but there's no way to predict how long the lower sale price will be in effect. If you've been on the fence about a photo printer, give this one a look.

Yes, that is a very good price. But Canon, on a Nikon web site? Will we be damned forever if we go to the dark side for this printer?

Just remember Nikon doesn't make printers. The pro versions of Epson and Canon printers are both quite good. But for the price, I doubt anyone will find a pro Epson printer within the same price range. And there were a few Nikonites who bought these last year....

Arrrgghh! I've talked myself out of this printer twice before. Its huge at 27" wide. Up to $125 to feed it when it gets hungry, ouch! I don't print enough, why do I need it?

It will be here tomorrow , but it will take me another week clear and set up a work area for it.

Its been an unnecessarily complicated thought process for me to send out for prints. Are they perfect? Can I do better? Did I order enough to offset shipping, etc.? Will I change my mind on the edits in a week? More times than not, I just don't order prints. I'm hoping having instantly available prints will change all that nonsense.

I just edited my post--although the rebate runs through the end of this year, there's no way to know how long that sale price of $309.99 will be in effect. Plus I am looking to see if anyone offers third-party ink cartridges that are rated as highly as the originals or if possibly the Canon cartridges can be purchased for less at a big box store somewhere.

Also go back to canon sales at their web site if you decide on the deal for the printer. Pick up another set of cartridges 124$US plus get this "Receive a FREE Photo Paper Pro Luster 13x19 (50 Sheets) when you spend $30 or more on Professional Ink - Offer valid October 16, 2017 12:00 a.m. through October 31, 2017 11:59 p.m. ET. Offer valid in U.S.A. only, and void where prohibited, taxed or restricted. The Pro Photo Paper Variety Pack includes the following, 1 Pack of LU-101 13X19 50 Sheets, 2 Packs of SG-201_13x19 50 Sheets and 2 Packs of PRO Paper Sampler Package. Availability of certain items may be limited. Limit of ten of any one item per order, subject to availability. Order will be shipped to a street address in the 50 United States or the District of Columbia only. Dealers, distributors and other resellers are not eligible for this offer. Offer excludes PFI Pro Series Inks and Maintenance Cartridges. Offer subject to Terms of Sale."

Although the previous poster showed the same ink at a lower cost but get does not get the deal at canon. I know have lots of paper and will get another ink and paper today.

Now just check every other two weeks at canon to look for the deals (paper and ink) it almost seems every other month you get the deal.

Now the down side on the Pro-100 or any ink jet for that matter you need to print something I did find an app on another forum but alas its for MacOS X called Inkjet Plumber and it sends a test sheet every 55 hours to your printer. If I did not print often (Images) I save those sheets and flip them twice to get 4 test out of sheet.

In windows you may want to write a script to do the same Task Scheduler to run a test print to keep the the ink from not clogging. My wife has a Canon MX920 and the Magenta clogged once but since using Inkjet Plumber it never had a clog.

I bought the Canon on that discount year before last... It's a great printer. I even bought a canon all-in-one on a special Adorama FaceBook deal for $19

I've been using the cartridges from LD Products off Amazon with excellent results...

For those who have this printer, how is it on ink usage? I have a Canon Pixma MP480 and photo printing gets expensive quick. And it only has two ink cartridges. Ha!

I don't think it's unreasonable... I do a lot of LARGE prints... of course, I use a knock-off ink supplier, as mentioned above, so my ink costs are about 1/3 of what Canon's inks are... I use a calibrated monitor with Lightroom, and print using TIFF files to the printer... via an iMac running HighSierre... I did some early testing and found the inks I use to be indiscernible from the Canon inks...
