Interesting, ... Am I wrong in thinking this is for integrating camera and printer in your calibration workflow along with a reference, properly calibrated screen? (Ie, one still needs a colorimeter?)

Yes... this only color calibrates and creates profiles for your camera's software... You still need to calibrate your monitor...

True enough. But it will also help confirm proper white balance from your camera as what you see on the chart should match what you see from a calibrated monitor. I have a Spyder4Pro for doing monitor calibration and it works great.

Yes... I use a Spyder3...

Received the colorchecker today. Only played with it for 10 minutes.

I'm impressed.

Got mine Wednesday, haven't had time yet.
