Cannot get to grips with Function button

Can someone please help me with the Function button? I have read loads of stuff but cannot get to grips with how to use it. I would mainly like to use it with 'flash off' but it doesn't seem to do anything. Is it possible to use it to change ISO setting?

Sorry if this is a little garbled but I need help

Easy peasy... Assign the button to "Flash Off" using the CUSTOM SETTINGS menu "f3" option.

The trick to this function is that your camera stays in "Flash Off" mode only as long as you keep the Func button pressed. Release the button and you're back in regular flash mode. I have a feeling that might be the point of your confusion.

Yeah, that can happen. Glad we got it sorted out... Oh, and no, you can not use the Func button to adjust ISO, but...

You can set the Func button to take you instantly to the "My Menu" and you CAN configure the My Menu option to include an option for adjusting your ISO. That's what I did some time ago; I'd set my Func/FN button to take me to the My Menu which contained all the options I used regularly but didn't have external buttons to control. It's a nifty trick.
