IR Remote

So I've been playing around with the DSLR Remote app (android) and its got the a timer capability so that I can take a sequence of photos at whatever interval I want. The problem I'm running into is that the D90 reverts from IR Remote mode to regular shooting mode "in about a minute" (quote from the manual).

Does anyone know of any way to extend the amount of time it takes for it to revert back to normal shooting mode? Or force it to stay in Remote mode? It'd be cool to take photos at 5, 10, or more minute intervals and then turn them into a time-lapse.

Thanks!

Hello, I am getting items together to do what you describe and am going to use the JJC TM Series Timer.
Lots of info online on it's use. I'm using it on a D90.

Given that it plugs directly into the camera I imagine it overrides the shutter release. Interesting. I may go this route since I see they're only about $20 on amazon. Thanks for the info!
