Your profile says you have a D3000 but you posted this in the D90 forum. Adds to my confusion.
The D3000 has a Date Imprint Function (see page 136 of the manual) When it is on, the date and time is imprinted on the photo.
The D90 calls it Imprint Date (see page 157 of it's manual). I believe this is what you are seeing.

Thanks for the reply, I've just upgraded to a D90 and I'm trying to take photo's without the imprint on the bottom.
Congrats on the upgrade, and yeah, just go into your menu and uncheck that feature.
