Can't Focus!

Hi all,
I'm using a D90 with a nikon 24mm f/2.8 lens and have recently been unable to focus beyond the 1.25ft marking on the lens either manually or on autofocus. I'm unsure if it's a setting I accidentally changed or a physical problem with the lens. Any advice here? highly frustrating!

I'm traveling right now with only the one lens but I'm fairly certain you're correct as the problem persists even when the lens is removed from the camera body. Anything I might try before taking it into the shop?

hmm. Don't think the D90 has a focus motor, so my guess would be the lens motor is a bit wacky. Did it take any unwanted dives ?

Yes, the D90 has a focus screw for older style AF lenses. But if he removes the lens and the focus ring still will not move the lens is the problem.

I am assuming he is using an older AF lens as I was unaware there is an AF-S style 24mm f/2.8 lens?.

If newer then there is possibly a switch on the lens body that has A/MF indicator? If set to A then the lens will not focus manually.

hi,
if the lens wont rotate past a certain point while it is not on the camera then it is the lens. You can easily rule out a problem with the camera by trying a different lens of AF type with the worm drive (not AFS). If that lens focuses OK, then the camera is ok.
