Indoor Volleyball and Basketball tips

I am looking for tips on taking good to great indoor sports photos of my kids. I generally use a monopod and try to adjust white balance for each gym. Most of the time flashes are not allowed. All tips are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I am getting good pics shooting in Shutter Mode. Just finished shooting volleyball at the high school and at state, able to shoot at 1/250-1/400 and freeze motion only if the lighting is good.

With the D90 you can use an ISO of up to 1250 without objectionable grain. With either your 28-70mm or the 80-200mm at f2.8 you should be able to get good shots at 1/250. At 1/250 you should not need the monopod. You can shoot at 1/125 (with the 80-200mm you will need the monopod) and still get decent stop motion and reduce the ISO at least one stop. I would shoot aperture priority at f/2.8 and set the ISO on auto. As Elkman indicates if the gym has good lighting you should step up the shutter speed for additional stop motion.

Thank you for the info, since I am on a very tight budget, I am trying to get all of what the D60 is worth. At this point a 2.8 lens is out of my reach. The 55-300mm lens does a nice job though!
