Shutter release is very slow when flash controller is on

Using a Godox X1 flash controller.

The problem is that pressing the shutter release, it takes over 1.5 seconds before the camera shoots.
This happened last week, I could not find the cause, so I did a reset on the camera.
That worked, proving it's a software configuration issue.

Today, we had another shoot. Same problem is back. We are not aware of changing any settings.

I don't want to have reset my Nikon's before every shoot, so I'm trying to figure out what setting, if any, is causing this problem. I checked the following:
Bracketing: OFF
Live View: OFF
AF-C and AF-S priority selection: Release

The delay only occurs when the flash controller is on. If I turn it off, the camera shoots full speed.
The flashes are working perfectly, as far as I can tell.

Everything worked up until this month! We've been using the Godox for years.
Can anyone give me a setting to look at that I may be missing?

When you press the shutter, is everything connected to the controller ready to go, fully charged flash units? Is it possible that the batteries in a unit are weak or have dirty contacts? Have you tried manual focus? Have you tried auto, program, or manual exposure? Is EVERYTHING actually reset when you do a reset, (some cameras have a "hidden" factory reset-like my D3000 I think it was, not sure what it actually did lol)? What are the camera flash settings? Are there settings on the controller or flash units correct and can they be "reset"?

Yes. Two points.
1. If I put the Godox on another camera, that camera works. So the flash system is fine.

2. If I reset settings on this camera, then it works again.

This tells me it MUST be some setting on the 850.

Did you inadvertently turn on red eye reduction? It can be easily accidently engaged by pushing the flash button and then turning the wheel or sub wheel.

Honestly no idea based on what you've mentioned. But have you tried a different trigger on your D850? I'm just wondering if it has anything to do with the camera body's hot shoe - possibly not a good connection?
