Happy Thanksgiving all!

I went out to shoot a sunrise at the beach this morning, got some great 8 second images. I get back to process them and realize that the SD card was still in the computer, all the images were on the XQD. Crap! My computer, even with the Sony driver installed, does not even recognize there are files on the .xqd card. I went fumbling through all of the seemingly thousands of menu items until I found a "copy" item. Apparently it is possible to transfer files from the .xqd card to the SD card in the camera. I have never needed any such function on the D7100 because the cards there are both SD and have no problem reading them. Whew!

XQD cards are a major step up from SD but if you can't read them they are about as useful as teats on a bull.

Excellent tip... I just reconfigured my D810 to shoot to the faster CF card instead of the SD card and don't have to worry about pulling the CF card and using the reader. The reader with all those pins always makes me nervous. Now I can just copy the files in camera and use the SD card to transfer to computer...

Yep, it's always been possible to transfer between cards in camera. Option two is to connect the camera directly to the USB port on the computer.

I tried that, the computer does not even recognize there are any files on the XQD card. I have an XQD card reader but it is of no help either. This is the first time I have ever had to copy files to and SD.
