I have the following lens a Nikon 70/200 F2.8, Nikon 50mm F1.4, Sigma 105 macro, Sigma 17/50mm F2.8, they all work without vignetting apart from the Sigma 17/50mm F2.8 is that the way that lens is gonna be?

Im not familiar with the Sigma but as wide as it is it shouldn’t be a surprise, you should be able to adjust for vegnetting in camera or post. If the Sigma is the same as the Nikon in that focal length it’s made for a crop sensor and if that’s the case you’ll always have vegnetting.

That Sigma Lens is a DC lens. DC = Crop sensor, and DG = Full frame in Sigma lingo... I would imagine that at the wide end of that lens on a D850 you would expect to see a lot of vignetting.

Yes a lot of vignetting, what would be a good replacement for the Sigma?

... the Sigma 12-24 DG is a very highly rated full frame lens.
Bear in mind your current DC Sigma is, roughly, a $300 lens. Finding an equivalent at that price point probably isn't going to happen.

The Sigma 12-24mm Fred mentions would be a good choice in my opinion as well.

I would also submit for your consideration the Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC G2.

Since your Sigma is a DX lens, are you looking for a comparable view on your FX body? If so, then you'd be looking at something in the 24-70mm range with FX glass. Or are you looking for something wider than the view you had on your DX body?

Guys thanks for your help, on the DX body i just found the 17/50mm a great walk about lens, i now know that to get something to suit the D850 in around that range is gonna cost a lot of money. i need a wide angle lens for landscapes first, so i will use away at the Sigma for a while.

You might be able to find a preowned Nikon 24-120mm f/4 VR for a decent price. Since the D750/lens combo is such a good price, some owners might decide to sell the lens. 17mm on a DX body is comparable to 24mm on an FX body plus you'd get more reach on the long end. Just something to consider unless f/2.8 is what you really want.
