    D850 making clicking noises

I rarely use Live-view with my D850 but today I wanted to copy some old slides using a 60mm 2.8D micro with the ES-1 Digitizing Adapter. I decided to use Live view for focusing the images. At my surprise the camera was making constant and irregular clicking noises. As soon I deselected Live view the noise stopped. I even removed the lens and experienced the same issue. Any one having the same problem?

Sounds like your lens was trying to focus and couldn't... Does it achieve focus lock in LV with the ES-1 ?

    Re: D850 making clicking noises

Thank you for your reply. The clicking noise is not the same as the focus motor noise, and this happens only if I use the LV. With the LV off and using the optical view finder there is no noise.
I tried with another lens a 24-120 f4.0 and I experience the same noise if I use LV. In fact I tested the camera without lens and the problem was the same. I will contact Nikon tomorrow morning for some advises.

BTW, The Nikkor Micro 60mm f:28D in conjunction with the ES-2 had no problem auto-focusing on the Ektachrome slides.

    D850 making clicking noises
I just contacted Nikon customer service and was reminded that the Live View LCD can either be selected to activate the shutter or not just by touching an icon on the screen (left top corner). I have now deactivated this function, and all is good. I rarely use Live View to compose and focus photos. I understand that controlling the shutter in LV by touching the LCD can be useful on occasions. Thanks everyone.
