D850 - 9 FPS on a Budget

Picked up the following:

Vello BG-N19-2 Battery Grip (new version that seems to have fixed the "fit" issues people saw with the original) $99
2x Wasabi EN-EL18 clones $42 each
DSTE BL-5 Battery holder $11
Wasabi dual EN-EL18 Charger $62

Way cheaper than using Nikons stuff - spent a whopping $256 instead of almost $1000 to get that extra 2FPS. :) But it works, the grip probably the most solid third party grip I've ever used - feels as solid as my Nikon grip on my D750, and way more solid than the DSTE grip I sometimes use on my D500.

You're doing overflow from XQD to SD, if I'm reading that right? I've been backing up to both XQD and SD, and still find the frame rate pretty reasonable.

I do overflow mainly when I’ve got four hour+ nights shooting bands. Rarely do I ever have it overflow but changing cards in a poorly lit venue quickly isn’t my first choice. So I keep it set that way.

I'd be interested in what kind of battery life you get with the Wasabi. On my D500, they last only half as long as the Nkon batteries. Man, you really did save a boat load of money!!! It seems Like Vello is making some really good stuff.

Hopefully will see this weekend....will probably pull the EN-EL15 out of the body entirely and see what I get. at $42/ea .vs $150 for the Nikon I can take the 2 seconds to swap the batteries if need be... (shoot dependent obviously) :)
