Nikon Memory Banks

My D850 has a "My Menu" tab on the Menu List. I've read several reviews that maintain that Nikon has not done us any favors keeping this as an option.
Have you used them at all? What's involved in setting them up, labeling, saving, and then using it?
(PS: Yes I hate user manuals )

You say it's not doing any good? It's one of my personal favorite options.

It's a place where you can put a lot of your most-changed settings. Instead of wading through all the various menu options, you can put the ones you change the most in one spot.

I have all mine filled with the 20 options that are available to me. ISO, Raw/JPEG, File Folder choices, White Balance, Level Indicator, et al.

I use the My Menu-menu on my D750 though I don't think I'd miss it much if it disappeared suddenly. It's mainly a way to put several menu options you would otherwise have to menu-dive for, all in one easily accessed location; much like having "shortcuts" on your computer's desktop.

Using the My Menu is itself menu-driven and there's no "labeling" or "saving" required really. Open the My Menu menu and you'll be presented with options such as "Add Items". That allows you to scroll through all the different menus and choose ones you want short cuts for on the My Menu menu. It's pretty simple once you get started and you can do things like change the order of the items on the My Menu so, for instance, the most frequently used menu options are listed at the top of the My Menu menu.

So all My Menu Settings are erased when you shut down?

*confused look*

No... Once the My Menu is setup it's persistent. Did I say something in my previous post that lead you to believe otherwise? Because that's certainly not the case. The changes will "stick" once they're made.

I think it's because you mentioned you don't "Save" your choices.... possibly implying they are transient.

I discovered “My Menu” recently on my D500. I love it. I can go there to change the things I use the most without diving into the big menu. It isn’t like the U1/U2 on the other models. It is just a shorter custom menu you can get to easily.
I think the 4 memory banks is what people hate so much because they are menu driven and don’t function like the U1/U2 settings.
