I like Steve Perry. A lot. His 45 minute (!!) review video of the D850, for those not yet feeling overwhelmed with reviews for the D850, is hot off the press.

Per Steve's website, "It took me 11 states, two countries, eight weeks, and 16,000 images to get it done, but here it is!" You d'man, Steve.

I learn something even when I watch his reviews. I just ordered his autofocus e-book. It is a bargain for the price.

I watched/listened to it this morning. I liked it quite a bit. This is one of those cameras that is just out of my reach financially but sounds good enough that it leads me to consider doing something foolish. Steve Perry's review just made things a bit more challenging.

This nearly made me choke on my coffee lol

"For normal scenes with an average amount of detail, the (buffer) capacity was much lower due to the larger file sizes you get when you photograph things that aren't the inside of lens caps"

His e-book is full of little quips. Makes me laugh.

At 17:19 he puts up a supposed Nikon list of recommended lenses that Nikon considers "sharp enough" for the D850. He says these are limited only to lenses Nikon is currently selling.

Strangely absent: any 50mm primes. The 105mm 2.8 is listed only in the Micro section. There is no 17-35mm 2.8 (a $2k lens), though they list the 16-35 f/4. (I thought the 17-35 was part of the Holy Trinity?)

The 70-200mm 2.8 ver. 1 is still listed, glad to see. That and the 105mm 2.8 are the only two on the list that I own.

Steve posts information that we can use in real life photography. He's a gear head, but his photos are pure art. His reviews don't come out the day after he got the camera, because he cares about giving practical information that can only be gleaned from thousands of exposures in a variety of situations. I watched the video even though I have no interest in ever buying the camera.
