    Hi,
I have submitted my problem to my dealer and to Nikon Service.

To Nikon Service, especially to see if they had any tips ...
Both my dealer and Nikon service reacted very quickly and to the point.
Nikon want to have my camera for measurement on a test bench and possibly service.
However, about in a bit more than 4 weeks I have a holiday in our planning.
During contact with Nikon, we came to the conclusion, that the measurement before that holiday might be possible.
But, if parts need to be replaced, this can be a time problem.
And since my camera operating perfectly (only higher power consumption), we decided to send my D850 through the dealer to Nikon Service after my holidays.
The approach of my problem by both my dealer and Nikon Europe Service gives me a good feeling.
    To be continued.

Please take spare batteries with you! Your plan sounds like a good one. Please enjoy your holiday and share your photos with us afterward.

Took one to the Galapagos last fall. No issues with battery life. I would start the day with a fresh battery and still have at least 50% charge by end of day. Guessing 500-600 pics per day. Carried spare battery, but never needed it. I rarely used Liveview, and have image displayed several seconds after a shot.

    Hi,

our holidays in Sevilla, Spain were wonderful.
During that week, at home it was about 5°C, in Sevilla it was 19°C to 22°C .
Now it's freezing at my place -10°C in the night, brrrr…
With simple photography I made 625 pictures with one battery, that’s the most I’ve got out of my cam till now.
So, once I was back in town, I figured out another plan…
I rented a D850 to see how another D850 would behave with my settings, my way of photography.
It’s very simple to set the rental D850 to my personal settings…
Save your settings (on your XQD card), put your XQD card in the rental D850 and load those settings into the rental D850. Ready to go!
Yesterday, the 2nd day, I reached the point at 700 pictures with one battery load and still had 45% power left!!
That’s how it should be with my own D850!
I did this test with my own battery and battery charger.
Today I’m going to return my rental D850 and my Nikon dealer will sent my D850 to the Nikon hospital.
I’m glad I could rent this D850 from my dealer (at a discount price), he didn’t have a demo D850 in stock.
Because of this test me and my dealer are very convinced, there’s something not quite okay with my D850.
Nikon Netherlands has to find out what.

    Hi

as I wrote, the 28th of February, I reported that I would send my D850 through my dealer (Foto de Vakman) to Nikon.
    I have my camera back.
    He has been tested.
According to the paper, there is nothing wrong found and the Nikon "expert" mentioned that I still had one button in a different position, which could consume more power...
Dirk, owner of Foto de Vakman, said to me, that Nikon often does not record what is repaired.
Probably arrogance, afraid of negative publicity or something like that would be a reason.
It would be a bit better if Nikon might think a bit about to MY feelings...
I don't feel seriously treated and have currently no confidence in my camera.
For my feeling I’m now portrayed as a liar, that I make up my complaints (too high power consumption).
I must now test myself again and find out whether or not something has changed.
Very customer unfriendly behaviour. By bigboy Nikon (Nikon Service representative), not Dirk, Foto de Vakman, my dealer.
He is standing for 100% along my side, Dirk is trying to find out what Nikon exactly did to my camera.
This experience will probably cause that this will be my last Nikon…
Zum kotsen (going to puke) is the feeling I have now.
    To be continued...

Unfortunately, nether Canon or Sony are any better.
