Nikon sells out of the D850 before it is available

Lets hope their stock levels are better than the D500 in UK, I was lucky to get my D500 and quite a few retailers are struggling to get supplies.

It seems Nikon UK are slowly becoming a "Non entity" according to some local photographic retailers, no sales rep in UK anymore and trouble getting stock (not sure how true this is though) with Europe being the primary contact / supplier so I expect we will see a slow arrival of the D850 when released.

Happy with my D500 in the meantime and suspect UK pricing will prevent me thinking about an 850 for a while!

I can dream and drool though.

The local store tells me their Nikon rep is only a part-time guy who never initiates contact. Even the store does their ordering online from Nikon.

Don't get too excited about this.

This is a classic Marketing method.

They announce a much anticipated product, hype it to death, because it is a great product, everyone wants it.

The diehards get it right away. Rant and rave about how good it is, but no one can the their hands on one!

ORDERS POUR IN.

Floodwaters will break around Christmas when INVENTORY is a must.

Just chill, get your order in at some point.

I don't believe one word of what I am hearing. The local Nikon rep told us "good luck if you see one in 6 months"!

Companies don't make money unless they SHIP PRODUCT. Something to think about. The longer you wait, the sooner a competitor makes an announcement and kills your sales.

Christmas!

Let's just hope there aren't any major issues with this camera or this will bite Nikon in the ass very quickly.

I guess this is par for the course with Nikon? I actually heard that on release day, dealers were only getting like one or two D850s, and I mean major retailers like B&H. It sounds like these things are barely trickling off the production line. Supposedly, NPS members get priority, and to date, even all those orders aren't filled.
