I'm giving the D500 some serious thought. So much so i've even asked Steve Perry for some advice on an aspect of it. Any thoughts about a D810 replacement may have to wait some time, but you never know, the specs might change that

Do you think the new D8xx will have a 48MP (or higher) sensor or will they stay with 36?

I think it'll have a higher MP (48-50MP) than it currently has to compete with the Canon 5DS. My guess is it'll probably borrow the AF system from the D5, but will have poor fps and buffer with less competitive high ISO vs the D5. They've have to make sure they don't kill the D5 after all

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a D810....I've been wanting one for a while, and got a good deal one. The next iteration it is going to be out of my budget range for a long time so I said to heck with it. :D Between that and the D500 I'll be set for a while. :p

Yep. Somehow I don't think I'll be disappointed either. Now I just have to sell my D750 w/Nikon grip and 24-85, and my D7100 w/Meike Grip and 18-105 to cover the D810....This makes body #6 and I don't really need that many... :p

I'm so close to pulling the trigger on a D500 it's not even funny.:concern:

Pete, just borrow one from a dealer, like I did, and neglect to take it back. Yes, I did pay for it, and yes, I did call my buddy at the store to let him know that I'm on to his sneaky sales practices!! He told my to drop by the next time I'm in town, and he'll loan me a 200-500 f/5.6. I think he's got me pegged... ;)

I will stick with my D750 for a while. I still love it. I think if I were to add a second camera it would probably be the D500. Not yet though.

Don, I've got both the D750 and the D500, along with my D700. A year ago, there was no way I'd ever own another DX sensor camera. The D500 totally changed that mindset!
