D810, how to turn off the crop mode button? (Red button)

I accidentally found the crop mode function on my D810 while shooting an airshow. It's the red button plus either roller.

I want to disable this "feature" which caused me to fumble a good number of pictures that I had intended to fill the frame, but they ended up being too big for the crop modes I hadn't even realized I'd selected.

So, how would I go about doing this?

reading the manual may help.

I did not get the manual when I bought this used and (formerly) broken camera.

I figured I might get a helpful response. You know, one from someone who's so familiar with the 810 that he can just answer the question with a quick and simple answer.

You could have just said, "custom settings menu, controls, F13".

If someone asks me a simple question, I attempt to answer it directly rather than tell him to go read the manual, which he may not have have.

I find that it's generally most helpful to answer someone's question if I am able to do so directly. Telling him to go read the manual MIGHT be considered by some to be a little bit snarky.

At least, when the answer is a simple one. For more complex answers, I recommend the manual as the best place to start.

I try to avoid giving that impression to people.
