Firmware Downgrade

Hello, I recently upgraded the firmware on my camera to 1.11
After the upgrade, my Sigma lens stopped autofocusing. I placed the lens on another camera and it works perfectly. My question, is it possible to revert to the 1.10 firmware version without damaging the camera. Thank you

It is my understanding that you can not revert your camera to a previous version of the firmware. Unless it is a Sigma lens with docking capability, you will have to send it into Sigma for them to update the lens firmware.

I always thought the same as well, but a few months ago there was someone on here that said they did revert back to the old version.

I don't have an answer for you, but when looking online to see what people have asked, I came across a compatibility discussion. It says Tamron and Tokina pay licensing fees to Nikon while Sigma doesn't. Supposedly that's why Sigma owners keep running into problems with their lenses not being compatible. And that's why Sigma can't freely allow the firmware to be obtained online. It has to come through their dock.

I always preferred Sigma over the other 3rd party lenses, but if this is the case, it's making me rethink my opinion on Sigma.

I thank everyone for their suggestions. However, I was able to solve by problem two ways. First, I was able to downgrade the firmware on my camera. Downgrading was the same as upgrading, the same procedure in involved. Just copy the previous version of firmware to the SD card. Insert the card in the camera, go to your menu under firmware update, and install. Works great. Second, Sigma said that they will upgrade the firmware for my lens free of charge. All I have to do is pay for shipping. Instead, I opted to purchase a USB Dock from Sigma so that I would be able to upgrade the firmware for my lens myself in the future. Again, think you for your assistance.

Can I ask where did you get the previous firmware version from? I cannot auto focus with my Sigma 150mm macro on my D610. Firmware version C1.04 L2.018. I would like to try what you have suggested but cannot find an old version.

I doubt you'll get an answer back from the Original Poster. This thread is from 2018, and the OP hasn't posted anything since. If you don't get an answer from someone else in this thread, you might try starting a new thread of your own. If you downloaded a previous firmware version on your computer prior to installing it on your camera, that version may still be in the download folder of your computer. If not, perhaps someone else here has a previous version.

You might consider contacting Sigma to see if the lens can be update. I am not recommending you downgrade the software in the camera but if you determined this thread may help https://nikonites.com/forum/threads/d610-firmware-upgrade-blues.44806/post-744041

Thanks for the reply. I did notice the post was old but thought I'll just try anyway. I do not have a copy of the previous firmware version I'm afraid. I bought the camera second hand from MPB and it has the latest version (C1.04) on it. I'm trying to get a new secondhand sigma 150mm macro lens to work with the camera, but it will just not autofocus at all. Works fine on my D500, just an issue with the D610. All contacts are spotless and AF is set on both cameras. Focus is not locked. Tried resetting the camera initially so thought about the firmware downgrade after reading numerous posts on the problem. Thanks for your reply anyway, cheers.

Thanks Needa, I have read through all those threads. I'm just going to return the lens instead. (Sigma 150mm macro) It didn't autofocus on my D610 and I can find nowhere to download a previous firmware version for the camera. Some people have stated they have done it successfully and been able to use their lenses again, but with no links to any site allowing a previous firmware version. Thanks again.
