Used D800E

Hello,

I bought a used d800e with a shutter count of 108000 for $1360.

Do you think I have a good deal and I am kinda worried about the shutter count though. I have researched before buying the camera.

How much does it cost to replace eg the shutter mechanism, aperture mechanism etc

I have looked for when the replacement part ends for d800e and I found no answer. Like it ends replacing parts until 2018 or something like that.

I moved from d5200 to a full frame to give the most effort to take photos.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to Nikonites,

It's a bit late to enquire about how good a deal you've made. Usually, one inquires before buying.

Depending on how many shots you take per year, you probably could be good for 3-5 years? I don't know and I don't think you should care.

Now that the deal is done, just use the camera like you would and time will tell. It could very well be that you'll never have to replace the shutter, and with things like this, if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Enjoy your D800E.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with Marcel. You have this one. Make good use of it. No sense in worrying about what has not happened yet.

The body is rated for 200,000 clicks, so if you really do take 92,000 pictures at 36 megapixels each, you got a great deal! Don't let yourself get buyer's remorse. Go out and have some fun with your new awesome camera. Those megapixels are unforgiving in showing camera shake and missed focus, so you will get some real practice in getting the sharpest pics possible.

I agree its a fine camera. before i was inclined to buy the d750 but d800e influenced me because of the price and the megapixel power. I usually shoot portrait outdoor, street, landscape and architecture.
However what i thought is the availability of spare parts for this model as there is already a d810 and in the future it probs will be newer with different spare parts etc.

It would surprise me very much if most of the D810 parts would be different from the D800E. I suspect that mechanical parts are the same as where the electronics could differ quite a bit.

But I've been proven wrong so so many times before and it didn't kill or hurt me at all. :)
