Second camera to go with D800

I'm looking at a used D700 or a new D810. My wife wants me to get the D810 because I haven't had much luck with used equipment. I shoot primarily landscape and wildlife. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

D810 would be a better choice so that you get to use the same type battery.

Glenn, I like your thinking and spoken like a true NAS grand master. I'd never thought of justifying a $3200 body based on a common battery

LOL! It pays off when you travel. Bringing just one charger and having the same controls.

I'm thankful that at the end of the week (if I'm lucky) I'll have 5 different bodies in the house - D7000, D7100, D600, D610, D800 - all of which use the same battery. Thank you, Nikon, for not doing with batteries what you do with grips.

That is a very good thing. Similar to the D80, D90, D300/s & D700 generation.

I chose the D800E to double up with my D800 and am glad I did. The E is performing better IMO than my 800. So much so that I'll probably sell the 800 and buy the next 800 iteration after the 810. The 810 seems to have a thermal noise issue that may or may not be easily fixed

I think the testing was more on the extreme side wherein most users won't do for long exposure with good light. Either way, I think the D810 is a well-designed camera that made an already good camera even better.

I won't argue. Also a carefully thrifty one since the D600 was a steal used and the D7100 a refurb. The rest were all on sale. 5 bodies in 4 years isn't bad. I once had a year where I was averaging almost a guitar a month (and selling them almost as fast), so this is nothing. A lack of children, not by choice, surely facilitates and helps justify expenses on your hobbies.

Oh, and about those guitars, they're what paid for the first D600 and the D800.
