70-200mm F/2.8 & TC-20E III AF-S Telecoverter on a D800

Does anyone have any experience using the TC-20E III with their 70-200mm F/2.8 on their D800? The reviews seem to be all over the board. I can't spring for a 400mm
but would really like to have the range. A help would be appreciated.

Same goes for me, except I use it on a D600. No issues here, just know it doubles aperture so your 2.8 becomes a 5.6. Which has never posed a problem for me.

I've got the lens/TC combo, and wasn't happy with it until I fine-tuned my focus settings on both D700 and D7100. After accomplishing that, I see much better results!

If I can borrow a D800 I could try the exact combo you're asking about!

Geoff has that combo and he showed some samples of a squirrel I believe. Try searching for the thread.

I had it until a few weeks ago when I replaced it with the Tamron 150-600. I did get some good results with the TC-20e iii, but I never felt it was consistent. The Tamron has produced more results that I'm happy with.
