taking sporting photographs under floodlights

Please can anybody give me some advice.

I am attending a local night football match which will be under floodlights, it wont be Wembley or Old Trafford standards !

I am using a Nikon D7500 with a Tamron 70-210 mm F/4 Lens.
I could shoot in auto but if I shoot in manual please can somebody advise me on ISO, shutter speed, aperture etc etc.

I am not very technical so go easy on me please!

Thanks

Rich

I would start out at 1/500 F4 and auto ISO (capped at 3200 or 4000) and increase shutter speed as needed to get rid of any blurring.

Put it on spot metering... focus point on their face.

Set shutter speed to 1/300 at F4 and adjust your ISO accordingly to have the correct exposure. Good thing about flood lights is the light doesn't change much across the field/pitch... so get it right and you can shoot all night...

If ISO is pushing too high and too grainy, bring your shutter down little by little but be mindful of going under 1/200th...

Good rule to start with is never take the shutter speed under the focal length... so if shooting at 210mm, ideally your shutter will be above that... unless you have monopod, but guessing not
