Are there any D7500 users that know if the sigma 17-50mm lens has the scroll issue with this camera?
I am a d7100 user looking to add a cheap d7500 and curious if the sigma still has this issue with the d7500.

What is the scroll issue?

Does the Sigma 17-50 lens have an issue with a D7200? If not, that would be the direction I would look at.
Not sure I understand what the D7200 has to do with compatibility between this lens and the D7500. Not all lenses that work on the D7200 are compatible with the D7500. That's one of the downsides of the D7500. :(

Since the D7200 has no issues with this lens, I would look into buying a D7200 rather than a crippled D7500

The scroll issue is mentioned here:

Honestly, I am not sure how important the dual memory card slots are to me. I have them on my d7100, and don't find I am using (like saving raw to one and jpg to the other)
I have a grip on my d7100 too and I do like that and realize the D7500 can't have one. Guess I am just getting all the facts and thinking on it.
Saw a refurb D7500 for $599. Thinking it would be the burst camera that the D7100 is not.

Vello makes one but most likely it won't work like Nikon branded ones for other bodies. I think the D7500 is missing a connection on the bottom of the body that grips use so Vello came out with some type of work-around solution.

I don't use the scroll option so have no idea what to suggest. Good luck with whatever you choose. :)

Well, except for one like that yes. I think I could get something like that for my old D 3200 too. But there no extre
batteries (just holds 1 at the expense of the one in the battery compartment) and no control dials, etc on the grip.

$599 for a refurb D7500? That's an amazing price. Has a bit better AF than your D7100, more focus points, faster frame rate if that matters to you, and also a larger buffer. I'm thinking you'd be happy f the single card slot and lack of grip don't bother you.

As the D7200 is now discontinued the 7xxx choice is a bit limited new, i looked at the D7500 before buying my Olympus and as the price has dropped it doesnt look so bad.

I've seen a refurb D7200 for $549 and the D7500 for $599.
From some of the rumours, it looks like Nikon will soon be "all in" on mirrorless, so what is the future of the dslr?
But in the mean time, I have a lot of Nikon F lenses, and there are deals to be had on bodies.

The focus points are actually the same on the D7100 and D7500
(51 with 15 cross type).
But the difference is in the metering. The D7500 has the same metering system as the d500 and some other pro bodies.
I don't view a D7200 as a large enough leap over my D7100, but the idea of this metering system being better at tracking birds in flight, and
they way higher frame rate *is* something a lot different than what I already have, so that's where the intreigue is for me.
Guess the D7200 and D7500 would both work better with my sigma 17-50.
The D500 price is almost in range these days too with my camera slush fund.
But then it's almost the larger question of do I start looking at mirrorless too?

The D7500 has the same autofocus system as the D500, just with fewer focus points. It is significantly more sophisticated than the D7200s AF system. The D7500 also has group autofocus mode, which is really nice for birds in flight.

well said. I know this system is a step above the D750,
It is about tradeoffs.
I may yet wait to see what's coming or for whatever black friday brings this year. I know the d7500 was stripped and I do like the grips, so a really good deal needs to come,
I got my D7100 for $489 as a refurb. I still think it's an amazing camera.

I'd buy a D7200 vs a D7500 personally unless there is a feature in the D7500 you need (+2 fps, 4K Video, touch screen, etc). IMO they neutered the D7500 to push more people to the D500. Things like dual card slots, slightly higher MP, better display resolution, etc.
