Power adaptor

Playing around with the D7500 indoors, I thought I’d save battery power by using the adaptors.
so I bought the EH-5B power adaptor and the EP-5B connector (as per the manual).
however, plugging these in and I’m not getting any power. Has anybody tried to use a power connector?

I'm confused. I believe the D7500 uses the standard EN-EL15a battery, doesn't it? And that takes the Nikon MH-25A charger.

https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/power-chargers/mh-25a-battery-charger.html

It can be purchased for less through B&H, Adorama, and other retailers. I've never used an aftermarket charger so can't give you any info on those.

He is not trying to charge the battery. running the camera of of AC.

With the battery life of these cameras why go to the trouble of shooting with AC? Unless that is all you do is studio work on a tripod/

Thanks for the clarification, Don. I misunderstood the question.

I've used one on the D610 when I had it. Works well. is the EP-5b seated firmly in the battery compartment? All the plugs feel tight? the cord from the wall to the eh-5b tight in its slot?
According to Nikon... its compatible with the d7500

Oh.. and is it a genuine Nikon product. There are lots of knockoffs out there that I wouldn't trust. Anything electronic that plugs into a Nikon I always insist on genuine nikon product. Warranty purposes is number one reason.

Not too mention the two components needed will set you back $150 just so you can experience the joy of being tied to a cable as you shoot. Bad enough when you're tethered from a tripod and certainly nothing I'd relish when shooting handheld. All things considered, I'd pocket a spare battery and call it a day.

I used mine when the camera was attached to a tripod all day at a Museum I used to work at. Since the camera was tethered to a tripod and was positioned exactly where I wanted it, it made sense to hook a power cord up instead of removing camera from tripod when the battery died. Thats the only reason I would use one of these things. Plus, when its hooked up to the power adaptor, you can only move the camera a few feet if that. 150.00 can buy you 2 genuine nikon batteries and a couple extra chargers.

Bought the adaptor from the Nikon store and the connector from a well known retailer...Wex, with whom I’ve dealt with for over 10 years and they’re reputable.
Everything feels “tight”
Made inChina on both products though. With no indicators on the adaptor - just a black box - it’s impossible to say where the fault is. It’s really annoying

My suggestion... take them back for a refund and purchase a couple more batteries and charger. You'll be glad you did when you are out and about and need power to your camera. There really is only a couple good reasons to have a power converter hooked to your camera.
