Yongnuo / D7500 / Commander / Triggers / Compatibility

Has anyone used the Yongnuo 622 (N-TX) Triggers and or 622 (Nii i-TTL) Transceivers with their D7500?
I ordered them yesterday and as an afterthought sent an email checking comparability. Yongnuo replied saying that I would like likely have to perform a firmware update right out of the box. I am not very solid on doing that. I check out the website and the update/upgrade looks a little tricky. I have done it on other equipment but in this case, you need do download and install updaters then select the proper software from the main overseas website... good grief, should I just get the Pocket Wizards?

Might be that one of you has already tested the 622s on your cameras and can verify that they perform properly without the need for firmware updates.

Thanks

The only compatibility issue I've had with the 622s has been when using them along with the SB-910. They've worked well with the D7100, D610, and D810 (haven't tried them with the D500) when paired with the 568EX lights.

Curious to hear whether yours ends up needing a firmware upgrade or not.

Your post reminds of one of those infomercials where people are about to lose their mind struggling with everyday tasks like operating a blanket or draining pasta... No offense intended.

Download/install the Updater software. Download the firmware package. Connect the 622N with the USB cable, press and hold the Mode button while turning it on and run the Updater. It takes about two minutes.

No offence taken Paul,
I can drain pasta but I do struggle with blankets.

Anyway, it all seemed so simple. Just buy the triggers and transceiver, throw in some batteries and your good to do. I am sure this is true with other models (D7xxx) but nobody seems to confirm that it works with the D7500. That is one of the biggest drawbacks I have had with this camera. Support is a little behind. For example, when I first got it, Photoshop didn't support the NEF files, more unwanted learning curve.

Might be that I will hear back from Yongnuo (Tim?) soon.

Thanks for the assist on the updater. Do I understand correctly that the updater detects the current software and then "finds" any available updates?

Tim (Payne) is a Canon shooter, so he may not have first hand knowledge of the D7500 either unless someone has already tested for you. I can say, if you run into problems though, Tim will know how and how to get you taken care of.

Yes you are right.

I have a way of over complicating things.

Its my nature to learn as much as I can AHEAD of a problem that usually never occurs. I do some risk management at work... I guess it seeps into other things.

Thanks for your patience, I will let you know how it turns out.

Were you ever able to get the D7500 working with the 622N? I am having trouble getting it to work too.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

And yes, it would be nice if todd7500 responded since the original post is over a year old.
