D7500 Lens Compatability

I am considering purchasing a D7500. I currently have a D60 with both a DX 18-55mm VR and a DX 55-200mm VR len. They both came with the D60. Are those compatible (will they work) with the D7500?

Thanks.

They should work just fine. The problem is that the quality of those lenses may not be up to the quality of the D7500 I ran into that problem when I went from the D5100 to the D7100.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

Yes they will work, but using them with a D7500 is kind of like putting a Volkswagen beetle motor in your Porsche.

Don and Brent are absolutely right in saying your new camera will be a lot better than those two lenses are. To me, that's no reason not to use this setup, though.

I started into photography with a Nikon F6006 film camera and two crappy Quantaray lenses that were definitely not as good as the lenses you have now. Yet, I got some good enough pictures to keep shooting. Over time, I upgraded lenses, then the camera, then another lens, another camera, and so on. Unless you're willing and able to buy lots of new equipment at the same time, that's how it works. The 7500 is a fantastic camera and over time, you'll probably want to add better glass to it, but even your initial shooting with your current lenses will be quite a step up from the D60. Enjoy!

Thanks all. Yesterday I went in to my local Costco and they are selling a D7500 bundle - camera, 18-55mm lens, 70-300mm lens, 2 batteries, charger, 32GB memory card, and a camera bag. $1,599. That seemed like a good price so I bought it. I like Costco because they have a 90 return policy so I can play around with it and if I don't like it (not likely) I can return it.

Now I just need to order a couple of UV filters which I use mainly to protect the lens (oh, and learn all the features, 384 page User Guide, 238 page Menu Guide. :)

Once again thanks.

More just for protection of the lens from dust, dirt, etc. Although I'm pretty careful with my cameras I do notice dust gathering occasionally on the filters on my other cameras. Also once or twice have got caught in a unexpected drizzle, rain, water spay from a lawn. Much easier to get all that off a filter then the lens itself. Besides they are not that expensive compared to the cost of the lens themselves.

I use filters when shooting "messy" scenes...Birthday first case smash, adults drinking ... messy stuff. Easier to clean a filter than the lens element. For other subjects, I leave the filters off.
