I will admit I don't use my D750 all that much.........

The D850 and D500 are my go-to DSLR's, but I decided to use it this morning to photograph the young male and female squirrels that visit our deck daily and it did quite well for itself with the 600mm f/4 ED IF AIS. I may wind up using it more. One advantage certainly is 25MB RAW vs 95MB RAW for the D850.

Easier on the hard drive :)

Absolutely. I have a 4TB internal HDD for just my photography stuff and have put less than 1TB on it, so I have a lot of room to go but still. I was told by two computer guys that it was not a good idea to put a lot of big files like that on an SSD because it could cause them to fail. I have two 2TB back up external HDD's for photography stuff so I should be good! What are the chances all 3 HDD's will give up the ghost at the same time?

All that talk about fie size I thought I would share this research. File storage has made me a bit crazy. I have had two personal laptop HDD’s fail 2 work HDD’s and one backup 2TB HDD fail. My first move has been to go to multiple SSD storage because they are inexpensive, but I have been talking to a friend about LaCie 2big Dock Thunderbolt drives. They use Enterprise drives and can actually monitor system health to allow you to replace a drive before it fails.

My friend likes the ease of use for me and the drives used. I admit the storage has taken a back seat to glass but this is on the list.

I was cautioned by our local computer repairmant about using SSD's to store large RAW files (like the D850's each about 95MB) because they can cause the SSD to fail. I use an SSD for all of my programs and use separate internal HDD's for my photography and general files and back everything up on multiple external HDD's. Never had a problem.

It sounds like medicine here lately. Every expert has a different opinion. At least neither of our experts work for the government... ;)
