So I recently invested in a d750, and I couldn’t be happier. I definitely chose the right camera.
Now accessories, that’s another story.

I mostly use the d750 for landscape and night photography shots, so I end up lugging it around a fair bit. The first two cases I’ve tried out are too small/awkward to carry, so I think I’d like something backpack-style, but if anybody has found a product/system that works I’d be very apprciative to hear about it.

For what it’s worth, I’d like to be able to carry my camera body, a AF-S Nikkor 24-120 f4 ED VR lens, a 14mm f2.8 Samyang, and my travel tripod with a relative degree of security.

Just for fun, here are some images from my first two nights of shooting in the dark

I’m using the forums on mobile, so I apologize for the quality

I use a USA Gear backpack I got on amazon. It does the job and keeps the gear I need with me. For the price, I think its very decent. There are more robust backpacks but if you just need something cheap, its tough to beat. I can fit my laptop, D800 with 24-120 along with 2-5 additional lenses, (depending on if they can be stood up or have to lay down) plus a speedlight, platy pod & ball head, remote, extra cards and batteries/charger, (for those long trips) rocket blower, microfiber cloth and a travel tripod buckled to the outside of the backpack. All that gear adds up to quite a hefty backpack though and its not even considered to be a large backpack. I dont have room for my newly acquired star tracker. This backpack lacks the customization some other brands offer, but thats the tradeoff. Plus, the weather sealing comes from a rain fly you can pull over the backpack in an emergency.

I have a ProTactic 450AW. I carry the D750 with 24-120 lens attached. A D7100 with a 70-300mm lens attached. Two Yougnuo flashes and a trigger. A 100mm macro lens. Two battery chargers. Extra AA & AAA batteries. Cables, remote trigger and cable trigger. A Stryker lightening trigger as well as cleaning supplies, etc. I have carried a Vangard tripod when on a travel trip, also.
IOW it is a large back pack that is comfortable to carry, but you can make it pretty heavy. Ha! It also has pouches for water bottles and can be changed/customized for your needs with removable dividers.

Most times I simply carry one body/lens and use a Think Tank holster. The nice thing is there is a rain cover attached that is stored in a zippered compartment. Since it is attached to the case inside the compartment, it doesn't fall off. Not sure if their regular cases have the rain covers, but the quality of their holsters is excellent.

I recently got a Think Tank Digital V20 Holster with the optional chest carry pack.
It is for my D7100 with a Nikkor 105mm F2.8 lens. The larger sizes are for FX bodies.
Great cary rig with weather proof cover for all weather use.

Thank you all for replying, I hadn’t considered a holster!

Think Tank makes an optional belt so their holsters can be worn around the waist rather than carrying them over the shoulder. And with the belt, several holsters can be attached at once although it might not be the most comfortable with that much weight on the hip bones. But each holster comes with a shoulder strap.

Might also consider some of the sling type backpacks. They're smaller than full backpacks so they carry less gear but for the amount of kit you're talking about, it seems like they'd work. Also many are configured so that your gear is accessible without removing the backpack. I use one from Amazon for my Z50 gear. It holds:

Body, spare SD card & batteries, charger & Altura strap
NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR
NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR
NIKKOR Z FX 24-70mm f/4 S
Nikon FTZ Lens Adapter
Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G
Meike Z FX 50mm f/1.7 (MF)
