    Just got a D750

I bought it used (Barely) on Roberts. It has 3000 actuations and comes complete in box with all paperwork. I saw grey market camera's new at $750 but went with the U.S. version (because of reading about service issues with grey market and the shutter thing). 6 month warranty for like $675. I could have bought for less on eBay but for $100 I decided to go with the warranty and reputation of Roberts. If you didn't know it wasn't brand new you wouldn't be able to tell. The strap hasn't even been opened.

I don't really like learning something new and reading it seems to be set up very similar to my D7100 so that helped me to decide on the D750. I really liked what I read about the low light performance. I have a Tamron 70-200 2.8 an older Nikon 50 1.8 D and Nikon 70-300 G that I can use. I will be looking at some other options. I will be off the next 9 days so I will have time to figure it out. Any easy set up options would be great also.

Just one thing I noticed with a couple test shots. It takes both Raw and jpg. I guess this is for the wi-fi option and posting direct? I shoot in Raw.

In the settings menu for Image Quality there are options to shoot raw (exclusively), jpg (exclusively) or raw+jpg. If you don't want jpg's just choose the raw option.

Same as you, I bumped up from the 7100 to the 750. What a good decision ! And the 7100 was the best I ever had until then. I went for a bargain used gray market, but it had its shutter replaced for free just before I got it.

Oh, I direct the jpg's and raw's to different sd cards. Rarely any more even pull the raw card for transfer to the computer. jpgs are excellent.

Nice purchase. I like both cameras: D750 and D7100. They make a great team.

    Re: Just got a D750

I am probably the only person who uses both BBF (back button focus) as well as using the shutter button for its AF. My U2 dial is set for BBF, manual mode, Auto ISO, and AF-C. My ISO is capped at 5000 which might be a little high. Primarily this is for wildlife.

But when I am shooting in A (Aperture Priority) or M (Manual Mode), I use AF-S with the shutter button for AF and to fire the shutter. So it is very easy to switch between BBF with AF-C by dialing in U2. Otherwise for landscapes, people, etc, I am using the shutter button for AF and shutter actuation with AF-S. All I have to do is to change the mode dial to instantly to either U2, A, or M to have those settings.

I shoot RAW+Jpeg Fine no matter which mode I use. Plus I shoot Adobe RGB whereas more people tend to shoot sRGB. Adobe RGB is a larger file. However, when I edit in Camera RAW (or Lightroom), I edit my files as sRGB. This allows me to save the original file with all the color info in case there ever comes a time I might need it (haven't encountered that yet though).

Be sure to include your copyright name so it will automatically attach to your files. Consider changing the default sharpening to around +6 (should only affect jpegs). That's all I can think of for now. Good luck and congrats on your purchase. Here's to many years ahead of not experiencing NAS. The D750 should satisfy you for years to come.
