Just about to drop the hammer on a D750

It's all in the cart at B&H.. D750, 24-120 lens Lowe camera pack, Nikon 50mm f/1.4, etc. Now if the market will just stay steady for a few more days..

Last minute request, any reason not to buy? I really wanted an 850, but I am retired and have to watch my funds.

It's a great camera. I've had zero complaints with mine since I bought it in 2014.

Those 2 sentences make up the heart of my pro and con argument. Nikon hasn't introduced a pro-sumer level FX camera below the 800 series in 4 1/2 years. It's old tech, but it's good tech. If they do decide to introduce another body in that line then you'll be spending more than you would when they do as I expect the body to drop to $995 (I know they ran big specials on the D750 at the end of '18 that might have had it a couple hundred bucks cheaper).

I'm not telling you not to, and if you're big on getting things new and not used then I would say you should be happy with it. That said there are a plethora of 24-120mm f4's out there from people who bought kits and sold the lens to get a reduced price body. If you're willing to go used on the lenses you could save a few. But I get why folks might not.

Sometimes good things don't come to those who wait, but know that it's possible you could have saved some down the road. If someone remembers what the price was last year in the super sale please post. I almost considered getting another one of each of the D750 and the D500 (that one for my wife), so I suspect it's lower than it is now.

If you want a D850 don’t settle as you’ll never be satisfied. Just keep saving, D850’s will become more and more available as new technology drops and people upgrade their kits.

24-120/4 can be had for ~$500 (white box) new and unless you’re doing some sort of specialized photography a 50/1.8 is fine for almost everything in that focal length.

I LOVE mine even though I still have my D610. The articulating screen is terrific to use instead of having to get down low to look through Live View or the viewfinder. The AF is really fast. I've never tried a D850 for comparison, but the D750 is still an impressive body. And with the body only price of $1,296.95, it's the lowest price I've seen. The body/lens combo price of $1,796.95 is impressive. You will be getting a new lens for just $500 more. I doubt it will go up in price within just a few days.

The body only is listed as back-ordered on Nikon's web site. I don't know if these are still in production or not though.

It's been my favorite camera and lens combo for a couple years now.
Only risk you have is with the B&H packing and shipping. They have been slipping lately.

I purchased my Nikon 24-120mm f/4 VR back in September. It rarely comes off my D750. It is definitely my favorite FX lens. With the added 50mm f/1.4, you will get some gorgeous bokeh. And the cable release is a good investment, too. Have fun! :)

And there's a brand new firmware update available for the D750.
Loaded it on mine this morning. Works good. Fixed several exotic problems I never had *ha ha*

It has arrived. Someone mentioned packaging isuues. Yes, the tape was coming off the packing box. FedX lady had already document4d it. On inspection everything is A-OK. Batteries charging now. Installed the 50mm f/1.4 lens to start.. I also had bought a LowePro pack. Might be over kill, I will need to "buy some more stuff to fill it up. Gonna use a regualr bag for now..

Since I can't remember how load a photo from the gallery. Here is the best of 4 test pics today. Spent a lot of time charging batteries, and getting settings sorted.. Camera is definitely smarter than I am. Ignore the dog hair
