Hopeful for a D760(?)

Am I the only one who, after seeing the Z6, really wants a DSLR upgrade to the D750? Haha I think it's due about now or in the near future.

Lol Thanks but I think I'll hold out and see what happens first. ;)

You’re not the only one who would love to see an upgrade to the D750. Although it is due for a refresh, I think the release of the Z6 and Z7 mean it won’t happen any time too soon. I also hope that an update does not result in an downgrade (like the 7500)

Agree with the above. I would rather see no update than a D7500 downgrade fiasco.

Please explain why you prefer D760 over Z6. What features would you like to have on D760?
Thanks.

Having recently purchased the D750 I would rather wait and see how the Mirror less line goes. They have a lot of great features to consider, and along with it a limited new line of lenses.
I would love it if they kept the lenses interchangeable thankfully however adapters are available. If the Z6 and Z7 do well, which I believe they will with their impressive specs, we may actually see a nice price drop in the F mount lenses. All the current DSLR owners would surely love to see that right?

My D750 is a proven workhorse extraordinaire and I have zero interest in anything else currently on the market, mirror-less especially.

If the "D760" turned out to be to a stripped-down D850, meaning a 24MP (36MP max!), dual-slot body using SD or CF memory while upgrading to the "guts" of the D850 (e.g. the magnesium body, Expeed 5 processor, 153 AF points, backlit buttons) it would get my consideration... But that's a pipe-dream.

My deepest wish is for Nikon to release a 700/800 series camera body aimed at the still-life photographer. They have all the right ingredients, it would just be a matter of putting them all together in a single package while leaving off superfluous crap like 4K video. This too is a pipe-dream, and I know it.

I would trade all the video capability of my D750 for back-lit controls/buttons. Who knows... maybe I'll start shooting video at some point, but I bought the D750 as still photo camera. I'd rather have more still photo features and improvements rather than any video capability.

Stay sharp,

I'd also love to see the guts of the 850 stuffed in the body of a 750. Pretty sure I'll pick up a z6 at some point strictly for a travel cam, as I need to keep the 750 (or upcoming 760?) for reliable action shooting. Also love to see the buttons lit and a deeper buffer.

I just bought a D750 as it's half the price of a Z6 and has a built in focus motor which Z cameras don't.
If Nikon want to kill the DSLR the need to make a ZTF adapter with a focus motor in it. Then you could use your old screw focus lenses on a new camera AND suddenly they would get the advantage of the internal body VR.
If they did that I might have been tempted.
I suppose that a lot of people now have DX VR lenses lying around and they can go the the Z50. The DX folks almost seem to get a better migration path with cheap used lenses than FX folks.

It's actually the other way round, Nikon have been very poor in supporting DX with interesting lenses and most of the lenses people use on the DX are FX, i dont see a problem with this it works well, if someone is starting with say a D500 they can buy and use FX lenses and be ready if they go full frame.

I wasn't clear. I meant a migration path for using cheap DX lenses on a mirrorless camera. Many (most?) of the used DX F mount lenses will be VR anyway so putting them on a Z50 will work well. Let's say that you have a D3100 and a few DX lenses, then you can go to Z50 quite well.

On the other hand if you have a pile of screw focus AF lenses from your 35mm film camera days (or bought used from someone elses 35mm days), and maybe you are on a D7000 or D90 or something then a ZTF adapter with a focus motor would get you onto a Z6, but that doesn't exist...
