D750 - changes settings after a switch off/on

Hey,
I have very strange issue with my D750 which was working fine for 1 year.
Here is the thing. I have a precise setting XY for photo shooting, movie shooting (ISO, white balance, image quality,...) everything. When I change these settings and then make some photos, everything goes well.
BUT when I switch off my camera and then switch it on, my settings come back to my XY settings. ALL. And when I start shooting, my camera saves the new photos on the existing ones, starting from 001.
When I reset all to factory settings and then I switch the camera off and then ON, it always comes back to my XY setting.
I really do not understand what is going on. I have the last firmware installed btw. It should be a software issue, but I do not know how to fix it.
I appreciate any help on this issue. Thanks

I can only state one thing that is certain: No setting on the camera will cause an On-(take some pictures, then...)-Off-On cycle to reset the picture filenames back to 1. Also, it is not normal for stored photos to ever be overwritten by new ones.

As to the other settings behavior, a question: Is U1 and/or U2 involved in restoring (or attempting to restore) your favorite settings?
