30 seconds to x250

Hi all. I have just bought another body, this time the D750.

Can anyone help me out here?

I do a lot of low-light, astro and nightscape work. I use a remote release with the shutter speed set to bulb. However, when I try to change my new D750 to bulb, it goes down to 30 seconds, the next increment on the thumb wheel takes it to x250!!

What Am I doing wrong here?

Many thanks.

Chris.

Switch to Manual or Shutter Priority mode; you'll find Bulb mode there.

I'm going to guess that you do not have your camera in "M" manual mode. I don't have the D750, but the D7100 has to be in "M" mode to go to "Bulb" using the command wheel to go from 30" to "Bulb"

Edit: HF beat me by a minute or two. Ha!

Are you sure about "S" shutter priority, Paul? Like I said, I don't have the D750, but the D7100 only goes to "Bulb" in "M" mode. It doesn't go to "Bulb" in "S" shutter priority. Maybe the 750 does, but I don't know.

Ok, cheers guys, I'm aware I have to be in M mode. I tried to use the exact settings from my D700 but it would just not go from 30 secs to bulb.

However, I have now found out what it was, although I have no idea why or how I changed the setting. It was the custom setting e1. Flash sync speed. It was set to 1/250 auto FP. I changed this back to 1/250, went back into shutter speeds and sure enough, my shutter speed went from 30 seconds to bulb and not x250.

Thank you for the replies.
